Although it still doesn’t feel like summer out there yet, the large volume of email and telephone enquiries we are beginning to receive from prospective customers shows that the peak moving months of June, July and August (when removal companies are at their very busiest) cannot be far away.
Despite the gloomy state of the British economy and increased competition from new ‘man and a van’ firms that always seem to spring up during a recession, we have had a great start to 2013 and we have already moved a lot more furniture, personal effects and piano’s than this time last year. Hopefully, by offering our valued customers competitive prices and a great service, we can keep the momentum going and make this year a record breaking year for our family-owned Gloucestershire removals company.

For several months now, we have wanted to try and get a photograph of as many of our removal vans as possible all lined up. A few weeks ago, we had a last minute cancellation in the afternoon and so decided to wash the available vans and line them up in a car-park behind Toys R Us and the cinema close to Gloucester Quays. I think the photograph turned out quite well.
Whilst many people assume that we only carry out removals for tenants and homeowners in Gloucestershire, we are also kept busy with removals for businesses and commercial clients. Whilst many of you were probably enjoying Easter with your families back in March, we carried out a very large delivery for a Tetbury based business to the Ideal Home Exhibition at Earls Court in London.
We also carry office moves and removals for exhibitions and conferences.
Piano removals, both here in Gloucestershire and further afield are another speciality of Newman Removals. With experienced staff and specialist tools including ramps, piano covers and moving dollies, we can move your piano wherever it needs to go. We are quite often called upon to move a piano from one place to another for a concert, recital or even a wedding.

This photograph shows our two small vans pictured with Sainsbury’s at the Quays in the background. We use these vans for delivering cardboard boxes, bubblewrap and other moving materials to customers.
Whether you have an upright piano or a maybe a grand piano; new, old or antique; we will work efficiently to securely collect, transport and deliver your piano safely to its’ destination. Please go very careful if you decide to try and move your own piano. Pianos are often very heavy and can have a very unusual weight distribution.
Whether you use our removals service or decide to hire our Man and a Van service, we will arrive at your home or office on time and with a removals van complete with moving blankets, straps, ties, and if requested – boxes and packing materials. All of these items are necessary to protect your valued belongings during transit and prevent breakages. Many of our competitors and small ‘man and van’ operators won’t carry the necessary protection your items will require.

Newman Removals regularly carry out removals to and from the various blocks of flats and apartments in Gloucester Docks. We have recently carried out removals at South Point, The Vinings and The Barge Arms. This photograph shows one of our vans outside the Shipton Warehouse.
Every week we receive calls from people who have taken the cheapest moving option and have either been let down completely (the person booked doesn’t turn up!) or a small and unsuitable van turns up that just isn’t large enough for the job. Whilst we will always try to help where possible, we cannot always carry out removals at the very last minute.
At Newman Removals, we tend to either use a small removals lorry or a 3.5 tone Luton style van for carrying out house and office removals. Both of these vehicles are perfect for this type of work and help to reduce the costs for the customers as fewer trips are needed.
Our Thornbury Removals business continues to go from ‘strength to strength’ and we recommend taking a look at the useful and informative Thornbury Removals website if you are based in the Yate, Thornbury, Bradley Stoke, Almondsbury and Patchway areas.
